Who will be the next Christian County Library Board Trustee from Sparta?
After speaking with a County Commissioner today to confirm the application, I was able to text Rosalie Watts. She is the current head of the Christian County Lion’s Club. Her response was the following. I only corrected for punctuation.
They have not picked who will fill that position yet. Yes, I did fill out an application and I did have an interview with all commissioners on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. I have been active with the Library for some time. I was part of a group who worked hard so Sparta could be considered, and we were successful and now have a great one. That's all I feel I should share at this time. Thank you for asking! 😊🦁🙏
The County Commissioner wanted me to know she was a kind woman who has served her community through the Lion’s Club for decades.
I also learned from the conversation that Janis Hagen has withdrawn her application for Library Board Trustee in an email.
When I sent in four Sunshine requests yesterday in relation to Tory Pegram’s termination, I received four bouncebacks from Hagen’s email address. When I pushed the Commissioner in my conversation, he seemed to indicate a possible resignation by Hagen either effective immediately or by the end of July. Her photo remains on the Library’s website though.
So who will the Commisssioners appoint to the Library Board? I suspect that they wanted to reappoint Janis Hagen. But that’s my opinion, despite the fact Hagen sued her own board members and has embroiled the library in thousands of dollars in legal fees.
Her original lawyer, Harry Styron, is being investigated by the Office for Chief Disciplinary and Counsel. Her new lawyer, Carnahan costs $500 an hour. I hope the Expedia Group continues to send in money to U-Turn in Education.
I don’t have the names of the other applicants. I would be willing to take quotes from the other applicants. The Commissioner indicated there was either one more or two more.
I hope the Commissioners remember we need wise counsel now and iron stomachs.
