State Media Lies about the Library, Part 2
Springfield News-Leader is famous for writing fiction. So, to help correct their narrative, I'm giving context to their misinformation about what happened at the Christian County Library Board.
Why This Had to Happen
The reason Echo Alexzander, Diana Brazeal, and John Garrity have been appointed is because of ED Brumett’s complete refusal to work with the public. She refuses to negotiate, compromise, or bend. At the meeting, she went outside and cried in the Courthouse’s hallway. Then she was in the parking lot crying. It’s unprofessional. She sees everything as a personal attack.
When everyone (including me) has gone to speak with her privately, she gets defensive and angry. ED Brumett has acted as the bulwark against the community’s simple requests. Clean up the library stacks. If there are materials in the children’s section that are sexually exploitative, move them into the adult section or its own section. Children are a resource to be protected.
When these simple requests were brought to her, and she willfully ignored them, the commissioners used their authority to bring change to the library. ED Brumett made it a fight. She didn’t have to.
This last paragraph is misleading. The County Commissioners are applying this to the Planning and Zoning Commission, which has gotten out of hand with four-story apartments standing over people’s farmhouses. They have to let these boards, which have different bylaws, close out differently.
BookBag Program is a Progressive Front
The News-Leader wants you to know that Anderson is more qualified than Garrity because she is pursuing a doctoral degree (don’t tell you what), is an educator (where), and is involved in the BookBag program.
Let’s talk about the BookBag program. This operates on the premise that if they empty the library of the classic library books, they can put the radical and progressive titles into the library. This is not altruism but a hidden agenda to empty libraries of good books and replace them with the sexually exploitative material we are trying to fight against. The person in charge of this program is Sheila Michaels.
She has received national awards for her work—however, she has been working with U-Turn in Education and is one of the progressive left. She is currently running as the Western Commissioner and is hoping to overturn the process at the libraries. She’s someone who has no idea what a Commissioner does. She called it a court in a Social Media post.
Correction
The News-Leader should have confirmed with John Garrity if he was a pastor or not. Again, he is not a pastor.
Agendas
Yes, Anderson. It was filling an agenda, just like what the library is doing. Let’s stop pretending that there are no agendas. Oh no, the other side has an agenda. John wants to protect children from sexually exploitative material. What is ED Brumett’s agenda, then?
If you look at the voting patterns in Christian County, it is decidedly conservative. They consistently choose the most conservative candidates by large margins. On Facebook, when an article was published with lots of lies about what had happened, 75% of the comments condemned the lies. There were over 390 comments at last count.
