Why did CCL cancel, but not reschedule their board meeting?
Christian County Library shuttered the Jan. 24' meeting because of weather (cloudy with a high of 44 and a low of 40) and not having enough business to meet. Updated with email response.
We received notice late last week they had canceled the CCL Board meeting in Ozark. They had made this decision by at least last Thursday. While the weather was bad today, it was forecasted that Tuesday would be mid-40’s and either rainy or cloudy. Their cancellation policy follows the local schools and will do a late start for the day. I received a couple late start notifications from them last week.
Today, because of the dangerous ice, they canceled for the whole day.
I don’t begrudge them canceling today of because of bad weather, or having a late start to their day for the same reason.
However, this is not what they did for tomorrow’s board meeting. Instead, they canceled it a week early. While library board policy does not require them to hold more than 10 meetings in a calendar year (to make exceptions for bad weather), they are using this policy to cancel without a good reason.
Last year, they canceled the meeting twice because of weather, but rescheduled it twice to make it up.
I wanted to know why they had canceled so early, so I messaged one of the members of the library staff. I made a grammatical error in my email (oops), but I still haven’t received a response. Considering they were closed today, I can’t hold them to a response yet. If I get one, I will update the article tomorrow.

I did get a response, but it is the same boilerplate answer as before. I do like the library staff, even if I can’t agree with them on this issue. Ms. Pegram is an excellent resource for the community and her local history knowledge is some do the best.
The Library Board is under a lot of pressure from the ALA and MLA to shut down public comments from parents. The board’s president and the library’s executive director are looking for ways they can achieve that goal. They do not want us exposing what they are doing in the library.
They do not want us exposing:
Books with Child Porn
Book Clubs about Mom Porn with kids allowed to attend
Policies which make it hard to see how many books are in the collection with radical gender-theory or racist ideology.
Their book displays which promote LGBT lifestyles.
How they hide radical books in the children’s section with images of women who have had their breasts removed.
Their beliefs that porn is educational.
Their belief that Christian County Residents are backwood hillbillies.
That they are radicals who are intent on changing the values in our community.
I can’t prove why they canceled the meeting, but I can show that this is not normal for them. I can only speculate this is an attempt to shut down comments from the community because they are embarrassed by what they are doing to our children and want to hide their actions in the dark.
However, we are Christians. We are called to be the light and salt to a wounded world that is covered in darkness. Our job is to stand and expose their actions for what they are—radical progressive views which serve Satan’s desires to destroy families and children in our community.
Shutting down public comments would backfire.
