Win for Vetting Candidates
Conservative Grassroots won a massive victory in our state against fake Republican knock-offs. It's time to start cleaning the House.
A recent court decision is trying to answer the question: Does the Central Committee “own” what it means to be Republican as a trademark to be given out sparingly to a person like Apple does to a product? Or can anyone use the Republican label like knock-off goods in China and sell you an Apple that’s a box of rocks?
The Judge in Vernon County decided it mattered. He decided that the candidates couldn’t pay the County Clerk directly their filing fee and bypass the Central Committee Treasurer.
In doing so, he set the precedent that the Republican Central Committees do “own” the Republican trademark for the county and not the State or National Republican Party.
This kind of decision will lead to an earthquake in politics.
In Christian County, the Christian County Republican Central Committee has refused to provide receipts to two individuals running as Republicans on the ballot.
The first is Brent Young, running for Western Commissioner, and the second is Susan Pathkiller, running for Public Administrator (similar to a Guardian ad Litem). Both individuals bypassed the CCRCC’s treasurer and filed as candidates without receipts.
I spoke with Paula Brumfield this morning. She said she is unaware if CCRCC has filed a motion with a court to remove these two individuals from the ballot. The latest they can be removed from the ballot with a court order is June 11th.
I reached out to Don Carriker, the CCRCC’s president, last night, but haven’t had a reply yet for a comment.
Yesterday, a small court in a rural county shook the whole state. It’s a victory for rural counties to gain control of elected officials and to hold them accountable. In the long run, it’s a small step towards getting rid of a supermajority of Republicans who might as well be Democrats—who are Democrats wearing cheap Chinese-bought and paid-for Republican pins on their lapels.
So true. We have to admit we have a problem in our party. It has been infiltrated by people who only care about money and power.
